The Last Weekend of 2014!

So, the time to celebrate the birth of Jesus is here......

But as I look around me, all I see is the hustle and bustle of people (Christians and non-Christians alike) either getting ready for the coming of an ugly old man with a flying sleigh full of worldly pleasures, or believers trying to make it clear to the world that "Jesus is the reason for the season"......

I am not saying that we shouldn't share with the rest of the world the story of the birth of Jesus, by no means! There is nothing wrong with celebrating our Saviour's birth, but I don't think that occasion should be celebrated only once a year. The birth of Jesus isn't just something that happened one time in history, but it's something that happens in our hearts.....everyday there is an ugly old man within us wanting to fly into our lives and bring us earthly pleasures, and at the same time there is a humble Saviour trying to bring forth life in us.

"That you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness."
Ephesians 4:22-24

So for me, the celebration of Christmas is a clear reminder of the constant battle in my heart. And my prayer is that in this time when so many people are celebrating the life of Jesus on this earth, we may be reminded that God is still looking for a "Mary" today, someone who is willing to submit to the will of God, even if it requires loosing one's reputation, to bring forth the life of Jesus.

"For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him."
2 Chronicles 16:9

That we may find favor in the eyes of the Lord!

God bless every one of you,

Laura

Welcoming Winter

"For He says to the snow,
'fall on the earth'."
Job 37:6a

Well, seems like yet another Canadian Winter has begun!

As the days get colder, the chores around the farm get rougher...but nevertheless it's been a lot of fun, and I've enjoyed taking Winter pictures again so much!

So here they are, hope you like them! :)

One cold gray morning....

We were delightfully surprised by this little one!

She was freezing when we found her, so we hurriedly put her and the mommy in the barn and tried all we could to warm her up!

Finally, she got on her feet and started nursing...it was a wonderful sight!!

A few days later....Violet and Tulip, enjoying the sun. :)

Celebrating Esteban and Julianne's first anniversary.

Time to milk the cow! :)

Singing and playing our guitars for my uncle's birthday.

First November Post

“Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize?
Run in such a way that you may obtain it.
And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things.
Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown”
1 Corinthians 9:24-25

What is Faith?

What is faith?
"Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see."
Hebrews 11:1

I had read that verse before...but this week I had to ask myself the question: Do I truly understand what this verse is saying? You see, there are days when our faith is so unshakable, the sun is shining in our lives, and we just have so much to be thankful for, and well, praising God isn't really that hard!

But suddenly, dark clouds begin to make their way into our part of the sky, and the rain pours down on us. That is when we must believe, by faith alone, that the Sun is still there....even though we cannot see it. But that is so much easier said than done! Instead, we panic, we can't find a way out of the storm, when the storm is really the one that will soon disappear and a beautiful rainbow will follow. If we could only have faith in God's promise "I will never leave you nor forsake you", if we could only lift our eyes to heaven and catch a glimpse of that sunlight through the dark clouds.
We will doubt, even Peter doubted when he had Jesus right in front of him!! he began to observe the reality of the storm for a moment, instead of fixing his eyes on Jesus, and he began to sink.

"Immediately Jesus reached out His hand and caught him.
"You of little faith," he said, "why did you doubt?"
Matthew 14:31

There is hope, each little storm is a chance, every cloudy day is an opportunity for our faith to be tested. So that at the end we might stand in front of the King and confidently say:

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race,
I have kept the faith."

2 Timothy 4:7

God bless!
